Thanks to a simple device examining breathing, you won’t have to do the blood tests

According to scientists, complex and long-term tests involving blood sampling will soon disappear. According to Zee News, an inexpensive disposable sensor was introduced. This sensor helps to make a diagnosis by people's breathing. The sensor is able to identify the markers of various diseases in the breath.

This is a small device based on organic plastic. A unique printing technique made it possible to obtain microscopic pores in the device. Due to these pores, the sensor became particularly sensitive - it detects one particle per million. During the study, the scientists focused on tests with ammonia as a marker of kidney failure. They created a sensor that is sensitive to ammonia.

By monitoring changes in ammonia concentration, the patient can identify early signs of kidney problems and consult a doctor for a more detailed examination. Fortunately, the method of production is universal. It is possible to create a sensor that is sensitive to different compounds. An element identifying formaldehyde has been already designed. In the future, the device will be taught to identify several compounds at once and give a general diagnosis.
