A new method of breast cancer therapy kills the tumor in 11 days
Thanks to a new method of breast cancer therapy, thousands of women will be able to avoid the wasting and destructive side effects of chemotherapy. Moreover, the scientists have argued that the new method kills cancer cells in 11 days only. It is an essential breakthrough against prolong therapy by currently existing conservative methods of treatment.
The study was carried out by the University of Manchester and the Institute of cancer research in London (Great Britain). In the experiment, 257 women volunteers, who had been first diagnosed with invasive breast cancer, have undergone the new two-step therapy consisting of already existing medical preparations Tayverba and Gerceptin.
After a while the tumor has stopped to grow in 87% of patients, the tumor has reduced in size in 17% of patients, and in 11% - the cancer has completely disappeared. At the same time, the scientists have specified that the stunning effect of the new therapy was seen on 11th day after start a treatment.
According to British experts, if further studies confirm the efficiency and safety of the new method of treatment, their development will become a revolutionary breakthrough in the treatment of breast cancer - it will save hundreds of thousands lives.
