A unique compound makes cancer cells to kill themselves

The researchers have revealed a compound capable to destroy cancer cells without harm to healthy cells. It helps with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). However, it is likely that the compound is able to fight other types of cancer, Zee News reports.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), cancer is in second place among the causes of death in the world. In 2015, more than 8.8 million people died from cancer. Experts expect that the compound will be more effective than existing methods of treatment. The compound makes the cancer cells to destroy themselves. According to scientists, combining the new compound with other methods will allow cancer to be treated faster, more efficiently and with fewer side effects.

By the way, earlier experts from the University of Pennsylvania have found out how to defeat cancer. The target of the scientists was the lysosomal enzyme PPT1. The experts have already developed a drug that effectively fights melanoma, pancreatic cancer and colorectal cancer in mice.
